Illustrated cards

I was commissioned by the European Commission to create 40 illustrations for their new engagement tool, a card game exploring 40 potential future political risks for Europe. I designed an original illustration for each card and a cover.

The illustrations have been used by policy makers in participatory workshops. The full project is available on the European Commission’s website.

Complex political subjects into colourful relatable illustrations

I paid a particular attention to translating complex and theoretical concepts into understandable images, using narrative metaphors and universal references/symbols.

Following the client’s request, I also created a cheerful colour palette to counterbalance the gravity of the concepts.
